Premier League Week 13: Predictions, Odds and Results
EPL Week 13 Pintsized Background
Somehow, some way, the mid-week bonanza managed to shoehorn in a whole lotta storyline. Manchester United are back to their sparkling best, Aston Villa dropped Stevie G in West London, and Brendan Rodgers managed to save his bacon when it mattered most. Just what could Premier League Week 13 hold in store?
Everton faces a pivotal lower-table clash with Crystal Palace, an opportunity for the Toffees to break their cascade early. The pick of the matches involves Manchester United travelling to Stamford Bridge. Potter’s Chelsea is a different beast after their sleepy start under Tommy Tuchel, but Ten Hag crafted a performance that hadn’t been seen at Old Trafford for a decade.

Notts Forest vs Liverpool
Pintsized
Injuries still plague Liverpool, yet they are managing to scrape through wins – an important sign that Klopp has his squad ticking once again. Liverpool is still wildly exposed at the back, but Joe Gomez seems to have stepped up to the plate so far. Meanwhile, Forest is slowly recovering with strong defensive showings in their past three matches (shipping just two goals).
Prediction: 0-2
Ryan
Is it safe to say Liverpool might be back? Their football isn’t as free-flowing but back to back wins against tough teams is definite progress. The challenge may come against the lesser sides and Forest showed some steel against a wasteful Brighton to earn a point. The away team’s superior quality won’t allow lightning to strike twice.

Everton vs Crystal Palace
Pintsized
Three losses on the bounce and the goodwill Frank Lampard had generated with fans seem all but gone. Everton remains one of the most difficult teams to break down, but their lack of counter-attacking threat allows opponents the time and space to eventually pick apart the Toffees’ low block. Michael Olise has been a monster all season, operating at a very high level under the shadows of Wilfried Zaha’s limelight.
Prediction: 1-1
Ryan
A lower half clash should provide some decent entertainment. Just when things were looking up, Everton are shooting right back down with their third loss in a row. Admittedly the opposition has been a challenge for them so perhaps they’ll fare better against Crystal Palace. They themselves came back against a Wolves side looking for their identity. I can see both sides going for a win but settling for a point.
Prediction: 2-2

Manchester City vs Brighton
Pintsized
Oh, to have been a fly on the wall after Manchester City’s loss to Liverpool. Expect City to embark on a brutal winning spree in the hopes of pressuring Arsenal atop the league. Expecting Brighton’s bit-piece squad to fall apart over the season under a less technical regime.
Prediction: 4-0
Ryan
What looked like a sure fire victory at Anfield proved to be anything but that. With their first loss of the season, City will have a point to prove and chip on their shoulder. Brighton might prove to be the unfortunate victims here. Having said that, if they weren’t so wasteful in front of goal, they might have a chance. A routine win to put the champions back on track.
Prediction: 3-0

Prediction: 5-0

Return to EPL Week 13 Predictions
Chelsea vs Manchester United
Pintsized
Kepa Arrizabalaga was given one chance by Graham Potter and grabbed it with both hands. Chelsea has conceded just two goals in their last five league games – albeit, against some toothless opposition (West Ham’s 9 goals, Wolves’ 5 goals). Potter has taken Mason Mount to the next level, however, with the attacking midfielder flourishing under the future England manager.
Ten Hag has sat Ronaldo on the naughty bench after his mid-week theatrics against Spurs. Dropped from the squad, fined 2 weeks’ wages and training with the U21s – the King trains Saturday 👍
Prediction: 1-1
Ryan
Two managerial masterminds collide in a typically big match in the season. Potter vs Ten Haag. Chelsea were not at it against a dogged Brentford whilst United pulled off their best display of the season against a grounded Spurs. If they can play like that against Chelsea, this will be an away win. However this is United we’re speaking about so I can’t trust them to be consistent. I do trust Ten Haag and back him against any unruly players, even the GOAT.

Wolves vs Leicester City
Pintsized
Not sure many had this battle pitched as a relegation scrap at any point of the season, but here we are! Leicester is fighting tooth and nail to break their slide, earning two impressive wins in the process. The Foxes remain incredibly leaky, but against an inconceivably poor Wolves attack, it shouldn’t matter much.
Prediction: 1-2
Ryan
Another Midlands derby and what should probably be a bit of a bore. Wolves are never the most exciting team to watch and they were unable to hold onto an early lead against Palace, coming home with nothing. Leicester picked up a rare win and looked good against the volatile Leeds. Wolves are anything but volatile and will grind down the Foxes attack to a draw.

Return to EPL Week 13 Predictions
Aston Villa vs Brentford
Pintsized
Mauricio Pochettino has been on speed dial for the past two weeks, all it took was a collapse at Craven Cottage for Steven Gerrard to get the boot. Villa is a team drowning in quality, Pochettino has all he needs to get the Villains back into the top half. In the meantime, the uber-composed Brentford should mop aside their disjointed, manager-less opposition.
Prediction: 0-3
Ryan
At long last, Steven Gerrard is no longer Aston Villa manager. It was a long time coming for the underachiever and being bent over by Fulham was the final straw. Brentford are a team on the up and gained an impressive point against Chelsea. With this confidence, they’ll shatter a team with no new manager bounce.

Southampton vs Arsenal
Pintsized
As the perennial banana skin team, I’m fully expecting Southampton to ruin a whole lotta accumulators this weekend. Still, I am choosing to tentatively hop on the Arsenal hype train. In Arteta’s Garnier jet black hair dye we trust (and Saka hitting peak form just before the World Cup).
Prediction: 0-2
Ryan
The rescheduled Europa League robbed us of a potential title match between Arsenal and City but that will come soon. For now, it’s another game for the Gunners to aim for 3 points. Despite a win against the seemingly unstoppable Bournemouth, form and quality goes against the Saints here.

Leeds United vs Fulham
Pintsized
Although Patrick Bamford performed decently last time out against Leicester, it’s safe to say it has been a less-than-spectacular return for Leeds’ leading striker. Jesse Marsch should have perhaps tried a little harder to retain Dan James. Fulham with Mitrovic are a comedically strong side, expect further troubles to be lumped on the Yankee gaffer.
Prediction: 1-3
Ryan
How can anyone predict a Leeds match? You really don’t know what you’ll get and the fans found out the hard way at the King Power. Fulham are rocking under Marco Silva and look poised to continue their positive form. For some reason, I see this being an end to end thriller.
Prediction: 3-3

Return to EPL Week 13 Predictions
Tottenham vs Newcastle
Pintsized
By no means does the manner of their mid-week defeat signal an end to Spurs’ run of good form. Tactically, it was a nightmare for Conte. Tottenham’s rise to #3 hasn’t just rested upon good fortune, however, their adaptive back-line is still ludicrously difficult to cut open. Newcastle has snook up the table, but without their special sparks in Alexander Isak or Allan Saint-Maximin, this feels like a ‘handshake draw’ type of game.
Prediction: 1-1
Ryan
Wednesday night saw what was easily Spurs’ worst performance of the season at Old Trafford. They set out defensively and the bus broke down. This isn’t something they should look to do against the big teams and shouldn’t be the case against Newcastle at home either. The Geordies are living the dream and picked up a win against Everton. Spurs will be a tough nut to crack but the away side will be happy with a hard-earned point.

West Ham vs Bournemouth
Pintsized
The defeat at Anfield may not have been West Ham’s most entertaining performance, but on another day, we could have walked away with an impressive point. Declan Rice, once again, has to be championed as England’s main man for the Winter World Cup. Bournemouth’s run of fortune was abruptly ended by Southampton, signalling a crossroads affair between the #12 and #13 in the league.
Prediction: 2-0
Ryan
This might be the time the Gary O’Neill train stops. A loss against Southampton was his first but definitely disappoints and especially at home. West Ham may have lost at Anfield but they can be proud of their efforts and have a great foundation to build on. They should be buoyed by their display and will capitalise on some positivity at the London Stadium.
